...??too many footprints??...

There's a lot I wanted to say last night because, once again, I'd had a very interesting talk and I wanted to give fresh ideas, but my internet messed up. Hopefully they are still fresh enough to send a message, make a point. So here goes:

Not many people follow this blog, but a lot of people have said they've read it at least, so I have a slight idea about my audience. If I'm right, you guys come into contact with a lot of people, meet new cultures, learn new things. I don't even need to know my audience before I say that you guys do; or at least are going to in the near future. Point is, in such a time as this, it gets difficult to decide "Which of the new things I'm learning may be right for me," especially for Christian. This post kinda stems in something my mum always says: "It's when you meet these people, that you faith is really challenged."(She's normally referring to Christians in other parts of the world, most commonly South Africa and America)

When you learn to be Christian in Ghana, you pick up a lot of do's and don'ts: Go to church every Sunday and maybe some other weekday service, dress your best to Church, don't smoke, drink, use tattoos, piercings...etc..etc. Try and count them, there's a lot. But when you walk into a different setting, and you see that people do otherwise; they walk out of church and light a cigarette, they have a tattoo that says "Jesus Freak!!", then you begin to wonder, what at all is wrong with it. You wonder if God ever said anything against it. Examples used here are the classic common ones, this applies in many situations. But in moments like this, the faith challenge comes in.

So what do you do in such a situation? I'm not an expert but I think I have a little advice. The Kings words are the first place to look and this word says a lot! If any culture or practise, hints, even to a very slight degree, an evil, please turn away and run. That's the word of God. "Abstain" means you have nothing to do with it. You may not understand why it is wrong, but if you think someone else has a reason to abstain from it, then there goes your appearance of evil. See an appearance of evil doesn't necessarily mean it is wrong, but the verse just shows that God is an "I'd rather be safe" person.

Trust me you are going to meet some radical new teaching that is going to rock your faith. But hold fast to the teaching and upbringing that the Lord requires of you. It's also advisible to retain some level of flexibility. Don't cling to a way that may be wrong because it's your upbringing. Position yourself to learn a better way, but learn in moderation. Learn what the Lord would have you know. When it comes to the tougher decisions, I know my King always provides the way out. So just go asking him what to do when it comes to those times when there are too many footprints that you cant seem to recognise which are royal footsteps. I know my Lord always provides the right way.

Until next time... I leave you Grace to walk in royal stepz...
